About the Event
15th July marks the launch of the SG Leaders Network (SGLN). Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the SG Leaders Network aspires to help advance the social capital of Singaporean corporate leaders who can support one another on their professional and personal leadership journeys - whilst cultivating a vibrant and robust community.
We also launched the inaugural SG Leaders Network Mentoring Programme. Participants got to hear from Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry on his personal mentoring experiences in a fireside chat. We were also joined by senior corporate leaders from Singapore who will share “the good, the bad and the ugly” about mentoring, as well as provide tips on how to prepare oneself as a mentor/mentee.

Mr Alvin Tan
Minister of State
Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth & Ministry of Trade and Industry
Mr Alvin Tan was appointed Minister of State for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry on 1 September 2020. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in July 2020. On 22 November 2021, he was appointed to the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) Board of Directors for a three-year term.
Mr Tan has worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Before joining the government as Minister of State, he worked in organisations such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, the United Nations and Oxfam.
Mr Tan holds a First Class Honours in Economics from the University of Sydney and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.
Mr Chuck Ng
Head of Global Private Banks Distribution, Asia – Schroders
Chuck Ng is Head of Global Private Banks Distribution, Asia for Schroders based in Singapore.
Chuck has more than 20 years' experience in the financial services industry - spanning banking and asset management, both in Singapore and Hong Kong, serving high-net-worth as well as institutional clients, across the Asia Pacific region.
He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and a Masters of Science in Wealth Management from Singapore Management University, and an Executive MBA through a tri-university program accredited by London Business School, Columbia Business School and Hong Kong University Business School.
He is a charter holder for both CFA and CAIA.
Ms Jerrica Chooi
Country Holding Officer, Singapore – ABB
Jerrica Chooi has over 25 years of extensive regional management experience across Asia Pacific and in the United States of America (USA). She is currently the Country Holding Officer of ABB Singapore, with duo role as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and has been with ABB for 3 years. Jerrica was Group Financial Controller of Sembcorp Industries for a year before returning to join ABB.
Prior to ABB, Jerrica spent most of her career with 17+ years at United Technologies Corporation (UTC) primarily focused on their building and industrial systems segment, in both Otis Elevator Company and UTC Climate, Controls & Security businesses. Jerrica has had a broad range of finance leadership roles of CFO, Controllership, Financial Planning & Analysis, Finance & Accounting, and Audit compliance roles based mainly in Singapore and Connecticut, USA. She started her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Singapore.
Jerrica is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore and a Certified Internal Auditor. She graduated with Honors in Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University (Nanyang Business School) in Singapore. She has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Connecticut School of Business, USA, and is also a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society.
Mr Manvinder Singh
Chief Investment Officer and President, Singapore – Olam Group
Manvinder Singh is Chief Investment Officer and President of the Olam Group and a member of the Operating Committee of Olam.
Olam Group is a leading food and agriculture business, supplying food ingredients, feed and fiber worldwide. The company is majority owned by Temasek and has been listed on SGX since 2005.
Manvinder has worked at Olam for 22+ years. From 1999 to 2006, he handled various aspects of the Finance function, first as a regional financial controller in Ghana, Africa, and subsequently as the group corporate treasurer in Singapore.
He then transitioned into building new businesses. From 2006 to 2010, Manvinder set up a Volatility Trading & Risk Management Services (RMS) Business which continues to run successfully today. RMS offers hedging solutions to third party companies to manage their commodity and currency exposures.
In 2010 Manvinder started independently building company’s Fund Management Business from scratch. Over past 12 years Fund Management Business has grown to be a very successful Global Hedge Fund. The fund management business invests in commodities and financial markets using a multi asset multi strategy approach. The fund business is currently running several investment mandates including the Global Macro Program, Global Commodity Program, China Commodity Program and APAC Equity Program.
Prior to joining Olam, Manvinder worked for 5 years with Cargill and Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) group. Manvinder holds Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant from India.
